Financial Aid
Bringing private education within reach

The following is a guide to financial aid and financing at Lake Mary Preparatory School:

Philosophy
Lake Mary Preparatory School understands that individual economic circumstances may vary. Since we value you and your child as part of our school community, we are happy to announce that financial aid is available to qualifying students, who otherwise would not be able to attend our school. We believe that families have the primary responsibility for financing their children’s education to the extent they can. Families who demonstrate need may be provided with a grant to lower the amount they must pay to the school.

No matter what your family’s financial situation, LMP provides a wide range of Financial Aid and financing options to make education affordable. Families may elect to supplement their Financial Aid award with our Meritas Private Access Financing program.
Applying
The application process is easy and the Lake Mary Prep Business Office will assist you in the application process. Parents must file an application with School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey. SSS will make a determination of financial need based on the information provided to them in the Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS). Financial Aid awards are based primarily on the financial need of the family. Financial Aid availability may be constrained by budgetary restrictions.

Returning families are given preference. New families must first apply for admission to LMP before an award will be determined. Families must reapply for Financial Aid each year and meet all of the guidelines set forth in the Financial Aid process.

How to Apply:

  • If you have not already done so, apply for your student's admission to LMP with the Office of Admissions.
  • Complete the Parent’s Financial Statement and mail it with the appropriate fee to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). We recommend completing this online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss , as this will expedite the process. Use our school code: 2738. If you do not wish to complete the application online, application forms are available in the Front Office.
  • Send a photocopy of your previous year’s income tax return, including schedules and W-2 forms for both parents, to the Admissions Office, Attn. Diane Whitley no later then March 1st. You may fax these forms to us at 407-322-3872.
  • Call 407-805-0095, ext. 101, if you have any additional questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is financing part of financial aid? Can I receive aid if I also use the financing program?
The financial aid and financing programs can be used separately or together. If you qualify, you may participate in both programs. See Diane Whitley for more information.

I am not sure if my family will qualify for Financial Aid, is it worth applying?

If you are not sure whether or not you will qualify, you may contact the Business Office for advice. Since many financial factors enter into the determination of Financial Aid, it is usually best to apply.

When will we be notified if we have received an award?

Returning and new students will be notified shortly after all the proper documents have been submitted. Once the committee meets, you will be notified by mail.

Will applying for Financial Aid affect my child’s chances for admission?
No. LMP operates a “need blind” admission process. Students are admitted on their academic ability, not their financial status. Admission decisions are made separately from Financial Aid decisions.

Will my child’s Financial Aid award change form year to year?
Families must file with SSS each year. Financial Aid is recalculated each year using current information. If your financial situation has changed, then your financial award may change. Additionally, LMP requires that students receiving Financial Aid adhere to our high academic standards and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and avoid any disciplinary action.

Still have more questions?

We are here to offer as much assistance as you need and answer any questions you have. The entire process is confidential.
