Third Grade Reading List
2008-2009 Academic Year

Students are required to read two books this summer.

These selections are available at local bookstores and libraries.

Required Reading

No Dogs Allowed by Bill Wallace

Stuart Little by E.B. White

*Choose from one of these books as your required reading and one of these projects:

• Create a puppet to represent a character

• Book collage- based on a character or event in the book

• Travel brochure- based on the adventures of a book character

• Paper Doll- Create paper dolls of the main characters in the book and include clothes and accessories.

*Submit assignments on Friday, August 15.

Choice Reading

-Choose the book from this list that interests you most

• A Bear Named Trouble by Marion Dane Bauer

• Christopher Mouse: the Tale of a Small Traveler by William Wise

• Project Mulberry by Linda Sue Parks

• No Talking by Andrew Clements

• The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman

• The Stupendous Dodgeball Fiasco by Janice Repka

All reading must be completed prior to the start of school. You will be given your assignment for choice reading the first week of school.
