Upper School Student Council
Lake Mary Preparatory
School
Lake Mary Preparatory School encourages organizational
development and leadership opportunities by the establishment of
separate Student Councils for the Middle School and Upper School
through which the students may participate in the formulation of
non-academic activities during the school year.
An Executive Council including a senior President, Vice
President, Secretary, and Treasurer is elected into office by the
Upper School student body. These students work closely with the
advisor and serve as a liaison between the administration and
student body.
Each Middle and Upper School grade elects two representatives to
serve a yearlong term.
The Middle School and Upper School representatives meet
separately (and occasionally together) with staff advisors at least
twice a month to discuss and plan community service projects, field
trips, class parties, dances, and assemblies.
The student council is responsible for the annual Homecoming
festivities, the spring Sophomore-Junior-Senior Prom, the annual
Trunk-or-Treat Halloween event for the students in the Lower
school, and many other events. Student council also plans
fundraisers to help offset the cost of student activities.
Members of the Student Council must meet high standards of
character and scholastic achievement. The students must have a
minimum of a 2.5 grade point average and must have a history of
behavioral excellence.
