About Lower School

At Lake Mary Preparatory School, we believe that your child will be most successful within a supportive, engaging and trusting community.

Our teachers greet every student by name, know their strengths, understand their challenges and work with them on a personal level every day.

Our Early Childhood Program is developmentally appropriate and nurtures your child’s academic, social, emotional and physical growth. These are our Pre-Kindergarten levels 3 and 4.

Academic experiences focus on critical thinking and inquiry-based instruction. We pair a warm and loving atmosphere with an innovative learning environment that includes explorative and hands-on experiences.

The classroom environment welcomes curiosity and exploration as children are actively engaged in learning. The PreK3 and PreK4 classrooms are characterized by a large variety of learning centers that the teachers carefully and thoughtfully planned. This promotes a total growth experience for each child.

Our Lower School Program for grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade is academically challenging, as well as developmentally and socially nurturing. Students benefit from a well-planned, individualized, and measured progression of achievement in the core subjects, as well as the opportunity to excel in advanced math and reading programs.

Differentiated instruction and positive reinforcement are hallmarks of the early childhood experience at LMP. Students are assessed frequently. Each student benefits from the Children’s Progress Academic Assessment (CPAA), which helps us identify content-based skills and develop individual goals for each child.

The Lower School is focused on higher-order thinking and critical analysis in its' academic foundation. Through differentiation and exposure to visual and fine arts, Lake Mary Prep promotes teaching the whole-child.
