Seniors Graduation Day Alumni Advice Class of 2017

For the Class of 2017, graduation is looming, senioritis is at an all-time high, and college decisions are still being made. For the seniors at Lake Mary Prep, new opportunities to learn from the success stories of  fellow Griffins are being provided and students embarking on their next journey.

"Selecting the right college and preparing for that experience is difficult," Senior Class Lead Advisor Nikki Buyna explains. "To help with those choices, we ask LMP Alumni to spend the day with our current seniors and discuss their own journeys, roadblocks, and goals. Ultimately, they offer the best one-on-one advice to prepare our LMP seniors for what lies ahead."

Buyna, a teacher and administrator at Lake Mary Prep for the past 12 years, was excited to lead this particular class through their academic career, culminating in graduation. Buyna has organized a variety of events for this group, including class bonding trips, college visit, career & college counseling opportunities, a Career Day for job shadowing, a Junior retreat to meet with college admissions officers, and finally, the senior retreat for a day of mentoring from LMP alumni.

Buyna invited alumni from multiple graduating classes:

The senior class members spent a wonderful day in  small group conversations with the prestigious LMP alumni, with discussions ranging from being a freshman and picking a major while learning to balance and have better time management skills to making the most of the college experience, exploring new opportunities, and networking.  It was clear to all who attended-- LMP fosters well-rounded and ambitious students who wish to change the world for the better.
