December 08, 2014
LAKE MARY, FL, September 23, 2014 – Lake Mary Preparatory School (www.lakemaryprep.com) is excited to announce that Junior, Sierra Brooks (16), has just completed the Junior Ryder Cup in Blairgowrie, Scotland. Sierra played an integral role in helping the US retain their Junior Ryder Cup title by winning a remarkable two of her three matches played.
Brooks was chosen as one of only six young women selected nationally to represent the United States in the Junior Ryder Cup – a tremendous career highlight and achievement for this young student-athlete.
“I am so honored to be selected to represent the U.S. team,” said Brooks. “Golf is an independent sport, so to be a part of a team and to share this experience together is amazing. I cannot wait to relive the memories with my family and team back home at Lake Mary Prep.”
Brooks has been playing golf since the age of six and has traveled all over the world to play in tournaments in London, Japan, and now Scotland. She has also won the Central Florida Tournament of Champions and led the Lake Mary Prep Griffins to second place in the state of Florida.
“Watching Sierra’s journey in golf and in school has been incredible so far,” said Lake Mary Prep Athletic Director, Justin Varitek. “She is the perfect combination of the type of student-athlete we have here at our school: one who is dedicated, hard working, and excels both in the classroom and on the playing field. She has an outstanding future ahead and we are truly privileged to be a part of it.”
