Travel Opportunities for LMP Students in Grades 7-12
Travel is the key to global knowledge. The LMP student travel program provide an opportunity for Lake Mary Prep students to broaden their global perspectives, build relationships, and apply knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom. LMP is committed to making travel experiences available to middle and upper school students. Below you will see the trips planned for the spring of 2023. The legacies of Pilgrims, revolutionaries, academics and literary greats abound as you travel through the brownstone-lined streets of Boston. Explore the sites of the American Revolution, and stroll around several of the city’s vibrant neighborhoods.
Take in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors with a visit to several National Parks. Then, experience the beauty of the American West as you stand on top of the nation’s most recognizable and stunning landscapes—the Grand Canyon.
Take advantage of round-the-clock daylight during the summer in this otherworldly place of dramatic beauty.Revel in the geothermal wonders of Iceland—Blue Lagoon hot springs, volcanic craters and subarctic fauna. From the capital Reykjavik you will travel the popular Golden Circle and see Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. From there, continue on to the famous black-sand beaches of Vik and the Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur.
In Rome and Pompeii, your imagination doesn’t have to work hard to take you back to ancient times. From the 2,000-year-old Colosseum to the houses lining Pompeii’s perfectly preserved streets, history has been frozen in time. Your passage through the centuries continues under the gilded archways of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Vatican City and in the natural beauty of Capri.
The 4-day/3-night Washington, DC Middle School Program is more than just a tour of DC’s famous monuments and memorials. Students examine the people, events, and debates surrounding enduring questions that have shaped our nation’s form of government. Guided by our highly-trained instructors, students have the opportunity to:
Discuss the historic events that have shaped our nation through visits to DC’s must-see sites
Engage with peers to debate the most pressing issues facing our nation in an exciting, hands-on Mock Congress
Discover Capitol Hill and encounter our legislative process first-hand by visiting the congressional galleries
Experience the world-renowned Smithsonian museums where our country’s history, art, and culture come alive
Make lifelong friendships as they exchange ideas with students from around the country!
