Lake Mary Preparatory School offers a wide variety of academic competitions throughout the school year. These include participation in the State Spanish Competition, Robotics Competitions, Speech and Debate Competitions, and Math Competitions.
At Lake Mary Preparatory School, we believe that advisory classes and character development are both important aspects of young adults social and emotional development. These classes, held weekly, follow a written curriculum and focus on the character development of our students. What sets LMP apart from other schools, is the one on one support we offer our students both academically and socially. This support comes from our teachers and administrators. Our advisory class environment, which is informal, fosters these student/faculty relationships.
Students work diligently throughout the school year and the Upper School Awards Ceremony is a time when faculty, parents and students come together and acknowledge our outstanding achievers.
Upper School students are encouraged to participate in several clubs. This allows students to explore different interests and develop relationships outside of the classroom. Clubs offered vary on student interests and availbility changes from year-to-year. There are consisten clubs offered such as National Honor Society (NHS), Key Club, Student Government, Robotics, and the #NeverAgain Coalition.
The college planning process is a difficult time and can be very confusing. Lake Mary Preparatory School teaches students and families about the process. College awareness and preparation begins in ninth grade at Lake Mary Preparatory School. The College Counseling program works closely with students and families in finding a college or university that will enrich the life of the student and build upon the strong foundation already established at Lake Mary Prep.
Workshops, guest speakers, panel discussions, information sessions and individual counseling serve to advise families about the choices students will be asked to make in Upper School that will directly affect their college options. At a very early stage, Lake Mary Preparatory School addresses the various aspects of academic preparation and college awareness; including the importance of academic achievement and course selection, the necessity of participation in extracurricular activities and summer programs, the role of standardized testing, and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
Lake Mary Preparatory prides itself on community service and encourages all Upper School students to complete community service on and off campus. These hours support their requirements for NHS, Key Club, and Bright Futures Scholarship. As a school we place an emphasis on serving our community. Students are encouraged to seek opportunities to make a positive impact within the Lake Mary Prep and local community.

Lake Mary Preparatory School has boasted a competitive debate team since the 2008-09 school year. Students may compete in a variety of categories including Student Congress, extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, dramatic performance, oral interpretation of literature, Public Forum Debate and Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Homecoming Week is a fun-filled, energetic time to express our school spirit. Each year grades nine through twelve compete in games, costume contests, fundraisers and pep rallies as part of a week of events that lead up to the Homecoming football game and dance.
Lake Mary Preparatory School enjoys the benefits of having many successful athletic teams. Periodic pep rallys provide students, faculty and staff an opportunity to show their support of scholar-athletes. These are exciting, fast-paced events with plenty of music, games and school spirit.
This is the traditional junior-senior dance to which Lake Mary Preparatory School students add their own style so it becomes a unique event. This is a student-planned event sponsored by Student Government.
Seniors look forward to many fun events in their last year of Upper School. Some events include Senior Kick-off, Senior Lunches, Senior Beach Day, Senior Field Day, Senior Rest Day, and more.
