Extended Care program

The Extended Care program at our private school in Lake Mary, FL, provides reliable after-school supervision for students in all grades, giving families added flexibility and peace of mind at the end of the school day. Any student who is not picked up at the assigned dismissal time for their division will be checked into Extended Care for supervision.

Program overview

For safety reasons, Lower School students may not be signed out by a secondary school sibling. Extended Care is available Monday through Friday from dismissal until 6:00pm and is closed on school holidays, breaks, and teacher work days.

The daily rate of $30 per child, charged to your school account. The charges incurred for late pick up of students will be $1/per-minute after 6:00pm and will be a $5/per minute after 6:15pm.

Intramural sports

Our Lower School intramural sports allow coaches, Upper School students, and student-athletes the opportunity to teach learners in Grades 2 to 5 the fundamentals, rules, sportsmanship, and teamwork of various sports.

Students are introduced to new sports in a safe and friendly environment that allows for quality time for practice, development of skills, knowledge, and rules.

Extended Care FAQs

If students are not picked up on time at the end of the school day, does the parent get charged for Extended Care?

Yes, the fee is $30 per day if a student is not picked up on time from school based on the dismissal window of their grade:

PreK – K: 2:40 - 2:55pm (Wednesday 1:40 - 1:55pm)
Grades 1 – 5: 2:55 - 3:10pm (Wednesday 1:55 - 2:10pm)
Grade 6 – 12: 3:15 - 3:30pm

Please note that late pick-up fees apply after 6:00pm at $1 per minute, increasing to $5 per minute after 6:15pm, and these charges will be billed to the school account.

What does a typical daily schedule look like?

Students will have time to complete their homework, enjoy a snack, and engage in outdoor activities. Team building activities, art projects, board games, special guests, and age-appropriate movies will also be a part to your child's afternoon experience.

Do students need to attend Extended Care if they are participating in Community School, extracurricular activities, or academic tutoring? Is there a charge?

The start time for Community School and extracurricular activities varies. Each start time is communicated to families.

All students who are signed up for Community School, extracurricular activities, or academic tutoring will report to Extended Care where they will wait until the start of the program at no charge (until 4:00pm for Secondary).

The daily fee will only apply if the student returns to Extended Care after their activity is complete.

Is Extended Care offered on Teacher Work Days or holidays?

Extended Care is only open during academic instructional days.

Lake Mary Prep is now providing extended childcare options on select non-academic school days. Kid Power will be offered to current Kindergarten – Grade 5 LMP students on teacher work days, SLC days, and early release days.

Students will enjoy planned activities, games, group team building, art projects, in-house field trips, and so much more. Your child will feel right at home by being at their school on these days, and families don't have to worry about finding a sitter or taking off from work.

The cost of this service is $55 and will be billed on your monthly LMP statement. Registration links will be sent in the weekly newsletters prior to each school closure date.
