Critical thinking is the acquired skill of gathering, organizing, testing, and using information. It is a key component of every class at our top rated international school in Florida that can grow the student's potential. Students are challenged to think for themselves and harness their own power of knowledge.

More than ideals, Lake Mary Prep’s eight student traits come to life each day through learning, service, leadership, and character in action.
Integrity
We are committed to building trust, earning mutual respect, and treating each other with dignity. We believe honesty and personal responsibility are vital contributors to our development. We act with unwavering ethics regardless of circumstances, and adhere to our values, especially when faced with challenges. We are accountable for our choices and our actions.
Resilience
We exhibit unrelenting effort for the benefit of the community and for ourselves. We approach challenging situations with a positive attitude, seeing adversity as an opportunity for growth. We strive to act with purpose and good intentions, valuing both the journey and the outcome, and understanding that failure is not permanent. We find the best use of our resources to solve problems, adapt, and grow.
Reflective
We value thoughtfulness and emotional awareness as key components for success. Through reflection, we gain insight on how we impact others, as well as how they have impacted us. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and actions experienced in the past through an objective lens, utilizing that knowledge to guide future decisions.
Empathy
We strive to understand the thoughts, emotions, and perspectives of others. We ask thoughtful questions and actively listen. We utilize this as the foundation for how we interact, fostering intentional and genuine connection. We allow compassion to guide our actions, acknowledging the value of others’ experiences, ensuring that they feel heard, and helping them when opportunities arise.
Adaptability
We are flexible in our thinking and willing to change when challenges arise. We keep an open mind, embracing new ideas, gathering information, and adjusting accordingly. We place value on both the process and the outcome. We are committed to developing curiosity, continuous learning, effective communication, creativity, and resourcefulness.
Global thinker
We cultivate global awareness by seeking diverse perspectives and striving for cross-cultural understanding of events occurring in the world. We believe our differences are a strength that we can use to enact change. We use our knowledge of the world’s social, political, economic, and cultural systems to help others. We analyze local and global issues, identifying key concerns and working toward creating solutions.
Innovation
Collaboration
We engage with members of our community through teamwork and inclusivity. We are active participants, sharing perspectives and encouraging others to use their voice. We blend the ideas and abilities of team members to solve relevant problems. We are open to diverse ideas and actively listen to members of our team. We practice tolerance, kindness, emotional regulation, and clear communication when there are differing viewpoints.
The Lake Mary Prep 2024 – 2027 strategic plan will guide the future of our school over the next three years, and provide a roadmap for our community in its pursuit of our mission.
In completing the strategic plan, the Strategic Planning Committee identified the following four strategic initiatives that will guide our decisions over the next three years and positively impact the long-term success of the school.
Most schools talk about what they teach. We focus on how your child learns. Through the Learning.First™ approach, students reflect on their progress, explore new approaches and make decisions that drive their growth.
Curiosity fuels our learning
The best learning happens when students are actively engaged. We ignite curiosity through hands-on projects and inquiry-based learning, making learning exciting, memorable, and full of exploration.
Confidence drives lifelong learning
Our students trust in their abilities, build confidence, and lead their way forward. This mindset helps them believe they can learn and achieve anything, fostering a love for lifelong learning.
The power of 'Good Struggles'
We believe great learning happens just beyond the comfort zone. That's why we create purposeful challenges, or 'good struggles', that help students stay motivated while they grow. Through these experiences, students build resilience, solve problems, and learn to keep going – even when it's hard.
Teachers as co-pilots
Learning here is a partnership. Teachers work alongside students as guides, helping them navigate choices, embrace good struggles, inspire those 'aha' moments of self-discovery, and grow in confidence.
As part of International Schools Partnership, every child’s journey is enriched with proven learning experiences that spark curiosity and grow confidence.

Strong academic results begin with students who feel challenged, supported, and engaged in learning. Students across ISP schools consistently achieve results above local and international benchmarks through learning experiences that challenge thinking, deepen understanding, and help every learner keep getting better.
Students are growing up in a world shaped by rapid technological change, uncertainty, and challenges we cannot yet predict. To thrive, they need the curiosity to question, the confidence to adapt, the ability to collaborate, and the resilience to keep learning throughout life. International Schools Partnership – ISP has partnered with Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge through Camtree and DEFI to embed life competencies into everyday learning experiences across ISP schools worldwide.
Language opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. Students across ISP schools develop proficiency in multiple world languages while continuing to strengthen their home or first language. Through meaningful learning experiences and international collaboration, students build the confidence to communicate across cultures and thrive in global environments.
International learning experiences help students see beyond their own environment and understand the world from different perspectives. Students across ISP schools take part in unique collaborations, exchanges, competitions, and global experiences that encourage curiosity, teamwork, and independent thinking. Working with global partners, these life-changing opportunities help students build confidence, strengthen relationships, and adapt to new experiences across cultures and countries.
Every student’s future pathway is different, and through our Future Pathways program, families are supported by specialist counselors and advisors who guide subject choices, university applications, and career decisions with personalized support throughout the learning journey. University fairs, global experts, and our A–Z Speaker Series help students explore emerging careers and future industries with confidence. We do not assume that good teaching automatically means good learning. Through ISP’s Learning Improvement Process (LIP), teachers and leaders look closely at what students are learning, where they are making progress and where something needs to change.
That means we keep learning from what happens in classrooms and use that evidence to improve what happens next. For your child, it means a school that does not stand still - one that keeps asking how learning can be better.
I like LMP because the environment is respectful and students are kind rather than mean or rude. I also appreciate the diversity of the school because it allows students to learn from different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.
