Students progress with a rigorous curriculum at all levels, with accelerated programs in core subjects, enrichment classes, and hands-on electives. A strong focus on STEAM builds problem-solving, design thinking, and technical fluency (from LEGOs and coding to 3D modeling/CAD). 

With a robust assessment program that includes MAP, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP, students regularly measure their progress against national and global benchmarks, consistently scoring well above the national average in MAP assessments. They typically graduate with more than 30 credits, exceeding the 26-credit requirement.

As one of the best American curriculum schools in Florida we're recognized as both an AP Capstone™ School and an AP School Honor Roll Platinum, distinctions that reflect the strength and rigor of its academic program. With 21 AP courses offered across disciplines, including AP Physics C and Solar Engineering, students can explore advanced subjects while building the knowledge and confidence needed for success in college and beyond. Through the AP Capstone™ Program, students strengthen the research, writing, argumentation, and presentation skills that are essential for higher-level study. Collaborative projects, presentations, and a 5,000-word scholarly research paper challenge learners to think critically, evaluate evidence, and communicate with clarity. Students may also earn the AP Capstone Diploma™ or AP Seminar and Research Certificate™, giving them a meaningful way to stand out in the college admissions process.

Through a four-year counseling sequence beginning in Grade 9, students work closely with an experienced College Counselor that helps them make purposeful decisions about course selection, testing, extracurricular involvement, athletics recruitment, and scholarship opportunities.

Learners also benefit from college fairs, workshops, panel discussions, guest speakers, and alumni connections. Student-athletes receive dedicated guidance, with many of our senior-athletes recruited by college teams.

With 36 sports teams across Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels competing in the fall, winter, and spring, students have wide-ranging opportunities to train, compete, and grow. Guided by experienced coaches, they benefit from exceptional instruction, close mentorship, dedicated sports facilities, and a qualified nurse. For elite student-athletes, a 6-period flex schedule helps balance academic demands with high-level training. 

Athletics begins early, with Lower School intramural sports introducing students in Grades 2 to 5 to the fundamentals of teamwork and sportsmanship. Through it all, the wider school community rallies behind the Griffins through the Booster Club and sponsorship opportunities, creating a strong sense of pride and belonging. 

At one of the best private schools in Florida, arts are a vital part of student life. Whether they are acting, singing, playing an instrument, designing, or creating visual work, learners are encouraged to explore their creativity. 

Students build their artistic voice through inspiring opportunities across disciplines. In performing arts, they grow through music and theater classes including band, choir, stagecraft, and acting techniques. In fine arts, they develop technique and creative thinking through drawing, painting, sculpting, and pottery. Lake Mary Preparatory School’s 48-acre campus is a vibrant environment where learning, wellbeing, creativity, and discovery come together every day.
